presence of rats on board may require the vessel or
aircraft to be deratised, if the restrictions are
imposed on account of plague;
if the restrictions are imposed on account of typhus,
any Health Officer may require the persons and
effects of any person who after medical inspection,
he considers likely to convey infection to be dis-
insectised and if he has reason to suspect the
presence of rats on board may require the vessel or
aircraft to be deratised.
Whenever it appears expedient to the Governor in
Council, in order to give effect to the provisions of the
International Sanitary Convention, 1926, he may, by notification
in the Gazette from time to time declare that any or all of the
provisions of regulation 3 of these regulations shall apply to
all vessels and aircraft, or to any class or description of
vessel or aircraft which is bound for, or will in the ordinary
course of her voyage call at, any country, port or place
specified in the notification, and the provisions shall apply
to all such vessels and aircraft, or every vessel and aircraft
of such class or description as aforesaid from the date of
the notification until suspended by a subsequent notification.
